What is the Retired Educators Mentor Program?
Teachers in training need help from retired school teachers and administrators to serve as mentors in the Mentor Program. Partnered with the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, the program matches retired school teachers and administrators with new teachers in the Center X-Teacher Education Program.

Features of the program include:

Pair up with first-year "novice" student teachers working toward their teaching credential, or second year "resident" teachers earning their Masters in Education. Matches are made according to educational interests, experience and expertise.
Volunteer a total of four hours per month for classroom observation and constructive feedback to teachers in East Los Angeles, Central Los Angeles, Compton, Watts, Baldwin Hills, and other areas.
Participate on the Mentor Advisory Committee and share your knowledge to help new teachers.

Recruitment for each school year is ongoing.

Please e-mail uclacoa@mednet.ucla.edu or call (310) 794-0676 if you or a friend are interested in mentoring a new teacher.
