Colonel Buzz Aldrin

Colonel Buzz Aldrin Colonel Buzz Aldrin is a leader in efforts to ensure a continued prominent role for America in manned space exploration. To advance his lifelong commitment to venturing outward in space, he has created a master plan of evolving missions for sustained exploration utilizing his concept of a spacecraft system which makes perpetual orbits between Earth and Mars. Colonel Aldrin is committed to the goal of opening the doors to space tourism for all people.

Buzz Aldrin has a prestigious record as an astronaut. In November 1966, he established a new record for Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) in space on the Gemini XII orbital flight mission. He has logged 4500 hours of flying time, 290 of which were in space, including 8 hours of EVA. As Backup Command Module Pilot for Apollo VIII, man's first flight around the moon, he significantly improved operational techniques for astronautical navigation star display. On July 12, 1969, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong made their historic Apollo XI moon walk, becoming the first two humans to set foot on another world.

Colonel Aldrin currently lectures and travels throughout the world to pursue and discuss his and others' latest concepts and ideas for exploring the universe.

Dr. S. Jerome Tamkin

tamkin Dr. S. Jerome Tamkin has distinguished himself with many achievements as a business executive, scientist, and philanthropist. He and his wife, Judith, have dedicated their lives to exploring ways to help individuals who are facing severe challenges and in leading scientists to new frontiers in medicine and technology.

For many years, Dr. Tamkin has been recognized for major support of many institutions including UCLA, USC, UCI, Heart Institute of the Desert, Salk Institute, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Boy Scouts of America, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. At UCLA, the Tamkins have established the Tamkin Functional Imaging Wing of the Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Building, the Tamkin Foundation Scholarship in the School of Medicine, the Tamkin Auditorium in the new UCLA Medical Center Replacement Hospital and are supporters of the Center on Aging. Also, Dr. Tamkin serves as a member of the Boards of UCLA and UCI Schools of Medicine as well as a Trustee of the Morehouse School of Medicine and the Scripps Science and Health Foundation.

Dr. Tamkin is a person who continues to make outstanding contributions to society throughout his life.
